Anton Vester
(*1996) is a portrait and documentary photographer from Pforzheim (South Germany).

After making a 180-degree career shift from police officer to photographer, he completed his first projects in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Greece, and Ethiopia in 2019.

Since 2021, he has been studying ‘Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography’ at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hanover, Germany. 2023, he completed a six-month photography internship at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, where he worked on commissions and personal projects. In 2024, he was awarded the VGH Prize for his project «Ohnmächtige Stille» (while we wait), which draws attention to the shortage of donor organs in Germany and captures the feeling of waiting for a new organ.

His work focuses on the social and psychological challenges faced by contemporary society.
Vester’s open attitude to new life realities and his interest in profound encounters are key elements of his approach.
